What is the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe?

Season 16 of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe will include a two-race round on the 24 Hours of Le Mans bill. Read on to find out more about this support event that promises lots of exciting track action.

The third round of the 2024 Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe season will be held as a support event to the 92nd 24 Hours of Le Mans. The field of Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2s will compete in a double header in La Sarthe. It is no great surprise to see this series scheduled on the Le Mans card since the Sant’Agata Bolognese-based manufacturer announced that it would be entering two hypercars at the French endurance classic in 2024.

An edgy design

The Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 is powered by a 5.2-litre naturally aspirated V10 engine delivering up to 620 horsepower. The carbon intake duct and racing exhaust system guarantee a thunderous roar. With its radical aero improvements and uncompromising Lamborghini Centro Stile design, the Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 offers the best performance ever achieved by a car in the one-make championship. The Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 pushes the aesthetic boundary of previous generations to the extreme, giving an insight into the styling elements that will be introduced on road cars in the coming years.

More than 50 entries are expected for the Le Mans round. They will be split into four classes: Pro, Pro-Am, Am and LC. After winning the two races at Spa-Francorchamps, Amaury Bonduel (BDR Competition by Grupo Prom) leads the Pro class from Ali/Söderström (Target Racing) and Caglioni/Geraci (Oregon Team).
The Pro-Am entry list is shorter than in previous years but what it lacks in numbers, it more than makes up for in excitement. Formánek/Rosina (Micanek Motorsport powered by Buggyra) hold a mere 6.5-point lead over Kuppens/Meyuhas (Boutsen VDS).
The Am class was one of the most evenly matched categories in the 2023 Super Trofeo Europe campaign and this season is shaping up to go the same way. Just ten points separate the top five. Perolini/Roda lead the way for Oregon Team, but the Le Mans double header could well shake up the standings.

The drivers will take to the track on Wednesday 12 June for free practice at 10:30 and qualifying at 17:30. Race 1 is scheduled from 13:15 to 14:00 on Thursday 13 June, and race 2 will be held two days later from 09:15 to 10:00.
