24h Le Mans
On January 7, 1929, Walter Chrysler, founder of the American manufacturer, made the cover of "Time" magazine as its Person of the Year for 1928: after acquiring Dodge, Chrysler became the third largest automobile manufacturer in the world. On June 17, 1928, Chrysler claimed the third step on the overall podium at the 24 Hours of Le Mans with a Chrysler 72.
A Chrysler was at the start of the 24 Hours of Le Mans as early as 1925, but it didn't rank. Three years later, the American manufacturer hit Le Mans with a squadron of no less than four cars at the start. Only two crossed the finish line (the others experienced mechanical problems), in third (Henri Stoffel and André Rossignol, winner in 1925 and 1926) and fourth (Jean Ghica Cantacuzino and Georghe Ghica Cantacuzino) places.
