Fabien Michal (#85 Duqueine M30-D08 Nissan) took good advantage of his pole position, surging to a comfortable 3-second lead over the messy pack. But the gap was reduced to nothing when the Safety Car came out 1.5 minutes into the race.
When racing resumed, the #23 Ferrari 296 GT3 went off at the Dunlop Chicane and Michal took the cue to rebuild his lead. Winner of Race 1 Torsten Kratz (#22 Duqueine M30-D08 Nissan) was hot on his tail and closed the gap in the third lap.
Then Jamie Falvey’s (#44 Ligier JS P320 Nissan) hopes of a podium were dashed with a spin in the Ford chicane. Patrice Lafargue (#17 Ligier JS P320 Nissan) went th same way and got stuck in the gravel trap, while Christophe Lapierre (#10 Ligier JS P320 Nissan) ground to a halt on track. Out came the Safety Cars.
In the fifth lap, most cars pitted for the mandatory driver change leaving the Safety Cars rather lonely out on track. Celia Martin (#83 Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo 2) took over the lead.
Maximus Mayer #29 Ligier JS P320 Nissan was out front when the Safety Car peeled off and Hadrien David (#85) launched an attempt to catch the top three, intent on reaping the benefits of his teammate’s excellent start. Nicolas Schatz (#6) and David Droux (#97) wrangled for second place and David quickly caught them up. Droux moved into second place at Indianapolis while the #85 was hit with a 5-second penalty for shaving a corner. Maximus Mayer got to the chequered flag first, ahead of David Droux and Tommy Foster (#20 Ligier JS P320 Nissan).
In GT3, Hanafin and Berry drove the Aston Martin Vantage to victory.
