After a lap of the Circuit des 24 Heures du Mans with the winning #51 Ferrari 499P, hop aboard the #2 Cadillac V-Series.R of Cadillac Racing! After 21 years away, the American manufacturer celebrated its comeback this year with its best-ever showing at Le Mans. The Hypercar driven by Earl Bamber, Alex Lynn and Richard Westbrook finished third overall, just ahead of the #3 sister car.
The V-Series.R was developed jointly by Cadillac Racing, Cadillac Design and Dallara. The 3½-minute onboard video recorded early in the race reveals the superb sound of the car’s 5.5-litre V8 engine which is coupled to the hybrid system that is common to all LMDh-spec cars. In this lap, the #2 Cadillac is in hot pursuit of one of the two Ferrari 499Ps. It is noticeable in this sequence how differently the cars behave.
At the end of the lap, the chase is curtailed by a 80-kph Slow Zone indicated by “SZ” on the board at the start of the Pit Straight while the marshals wave yellow flags. The Slow Zone procedure is implemented for the safety of the marshals who are required to attend to an incident on or by the track.
