2024 24 Hours of Le Mans – What's happening on Sunday 9 June?

It has been a long wait, but the teams entered in the 92nd 24 Hours of Le Mans are finally free to hit the track for Test Day, with the two sessions of track time flanking the Ligier European Series.

2024 24 Hours of Le Mans | Test Day

With Scrutineering a done deal, the 186 drivers can hit the track at last to set their marks and tweak car set-ups. Teams will make sure each driver is given ample time behind the wheel while working to optimise performance. Rookie drivers will need to complete 10 mandatory laps, including five timed, per the regulations. As the asphalt gains grip, the pace will increase. Test Day is eagerly awaited and competitors will put these hours of track time to excellent use.

Ligier European Series

The Ligier European Series, one of four support races for the 92nd 24 Hours, is also on today's programme. Launched in 2020, the one-make series groups the futuristic looking Ligier JSP4 prototypes and the Ligier JS2 R small GTs designed exclusively for this race.

Drivers will take part in one 45-minute free practice, one 20-minute qualifying session and the one-hour race. Several teams are veterans of the 24 Hours of Le Mans (Inter Europol Competition, Iron Lynx, Nielsen Racing and RLR MSport).
