Every year Jota Sport, a regular competitor in the European Le Mans Series, enters the 6 Hours of Spa, the last round of the World Endurance Championship (WEC) before the 24 Hours, to prepare as much as possible for Le Mans. A successful formula since Simon Dolan's team won in the LM P2 class in 2014 and claimed the second step on the podium this year.
Nonetheless, as of 2016 the British outfit will play on two fields with the European championship and the world championship, which will allow Dennis to participate in two of the aforementioned races in the Gibson 015S-Nissan all while he competes the full GP3 Series season with Arden International.
The young, 20-year-old driver is taking part in the "Superstar" program, one of the two guidance processes put in place by the BRDC (British Racing Drivers' Club) and earlier this week won two awards: the Spencer Charington Trophy, given to the British driver best ranked in the FIA F3 European Championship, and the Richard Seaman Trophy, given to the BRDC member best ranked in the points system towards the annual Gold Star outside of F1.
Jake Dennis: "This is a fantastic opportunity for me - an absolute win-win situation for sure," said Dennis. "Not only do I get to take another step up the single-seater ladder with one of the top teams in GP3 but I also get my first taste of endurance racing with a Le Mans LMP2 class-winning team as well. This will let me showcase what I'm capable of in front of probably the two biggest audiences in motorsport, which will be invaluable as I progress my career."
Indeed, the GP3 Series rounds will take place as rehearsals for certain F1 rounds, whereas up until now Jake Dennis (no relation to Ron Dennis, McLaren F1 team principl) came up in Formula Renault 2.0 and in F3 (third in the final standings this year).
