#52 – Aston Martin DBR9 / Young Driver AMR / Enge-Nygaard-Kox / 22nd (3rd GT1)
For its first Le Mans start, the Young Driver AMR team took the last spot of the LMGT1 podium, after starting the race from the class pole. Peter Kox had the category lead during the first hour of racing, and remained in the top 3 during the following hours. Then the DBR9 suffered a transmission problem which cost one hour of repair in the pit.
The car dropped to 6th and the drivers fought their way up during the whole night without further issues, reclaiming the runner-up spot on Sunday morning. Only 90 minutes of race remained when the transmission failed again. After a second drive-shaft change, Christoffer Nygaard came back on the track 15 minutes before the chequered flag, finishing 3rd in the category. “With our third place we gave the Aston Martin DBR9 a great farewell on this track,” commented Tomas Enge. “Due to a rule change the car is not allowed in next year’s 24 Hours.”
