WEC - Hans-Joachim Stuck named Grand Marshal at the 6 Hours of Nürburgring

Two-time winner at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and three-time winner at the 12 Hours of Sebring, Hans-Joachim Stuck will give the start at the 6 Hours of N

What would make more sense than to ask Hans-Joachim Stuck - current president of the DMSB (Deutscher Motor Sport Bund) who oversees motorsports across the Rhine - to serve as the Grand Marshal at the 6 Hours of Nürburgring? Indeed, it was at the North Loop (Nordschleife) of the circuit that the former endurance and F1 driver learned to drive with his father, himself a driver!

The son even surpassed his dad with a record in endurance extending from 1970 to 2004 with a first and final win on his native German soil. Though he never managed to win in F1 despite 74 starts, "Strietzel" did win all the great classic endurance races except the Rolex 24 at Daytona.

Stuck's results at Le Mans (seven podiums including two consecutive victories in 1986 and 1987) lead to the belief the native of Garmisch-Partenkirchen only raced for Porsche, though he won his three trophies at the 24 Hours of Nürburgring with BMW, like his first wins overseas in 1975.

After Sebring in March, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of his first win, the Bavarian was named the Grand Marshal at the 6 Hours of Nürburgring which will take place August 28-30, 2015.
