The 2015 edition will be no exception with no less than 34 competitors on the track (entry list) in the Belgian Ardennes. In LM P1, Audi and Porsche will enter a third car as they will at Le Mans. The No. 9 Audi R18 e-tron quattro will go to Filipe Albuquerque, normally a head driver for Jota Sport in the European Le Mans Series, Marco Bonanomi, who has claimed one podium finish at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and René Rast, who will make his debut in the head class, as will Earl Bamber and Nick Tandy at the wheel of the No. 19 Porsche 919 Hybrid, while their teammate, F1 driver Nico Hülkenberg, will not only debut in LM P1, but also in endurance.
No changes on the other hand for Toyota, who will enter only two cars in Belgium and at Le Mans and for the private team Team ByKOLLES. Remember that Nissan will make its first appearance with the three GT-R LM NISMOs at the 83rd edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, like Swiss team Rebellion Racing whose R-One will be powered by AER.
As in LM P1, the LM P2 class will also host a sometime competitor of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC): Jota Sport, entered in the ELMS for the year. The British outfit, who won in LM P2 at Le Mans last year, had crossed the finish line in second place at Spa-Francorchamps the previous month, the spot it also held after the 4 Hours of Silverstone, the openining round of the 2015 ELMS season last weekend. The Jota Sport team will be joined by Team SARD Morand who had to take a pass on the first race of the year at Silverstone, and who in the end will enter only one car in Belgium and at Le Mans.
Unlike the other three classes, no modification is notable compared to the list of cars entered in the entirety of the championship season, which makes sense since the teams in question are official and supported by a constructor with but one goal: to win the GT constructor World Cup at the end of the year. Nonetheless, Porsche has slightly altered its driver line-ups for the race in the U.S. in the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship, the same weekend. So Frédéric Makowiecki will race with Richard Lietz (No. 92), and Sven Müller and Kevin Estre (No. 91) will discover the FIA WEC.
On the contrary, the LM GTE Am class only hosts private entities, but most of the gentlemen-drivers are motivated to compete in the entire FIA WEC, the only exception being the AF Corse outfit, who will enter a second Ferrari, of the ELMS, in view of the 24 Hours of Le Mans for the driver line-up Duncan Cameron, Matt Griffin and Alex Mortimer.
The start of the WEC 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, the second round of the FIA WEC, will be given Saturday, May 2nd at 2:30 p.m., and the 24 Hours of Le Mans will take place June 13th and 14th.
