24h Le Mans
In 2009 that the American actor Patrick Dempsey who plays Dr. Shepherd in the American series "Grey's Anatomy", participated for the first time in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Like other Hollywood stars before him (including Paul Newman in 1979), his arrival La Sarthe attracted public and media attention.
For the occasion, he teamed up with Joe Foster and Don Kitch Jr. He quickly showed himself to be at home on 13 km Le Mans circuit. After an eventful race, the Ferrari F430 finished in ninth place in the GT2 class. Since then, Patrick Dempsey has become a team owner as well as a driver. In 2012 he participated in the American Le Mans Series, driving a Lola LM P2 prototype. This year, he had podium finish in the third round of 2013, last Saturday at Laguna Seca, this time in GT. It gives additional confidence and motivation in the run-up to Le Mans, where Patrick Dempsey will drive a Porsche 911 GT3 RSR in the LM GTE Am class. The 24 Hours of Le Mans remains his major objective, as stated by the actor: "It is a magical event. When you are at the start of this race, the dream really comes true.
