Former government minister, Lord Paul Drayson became a gentleman driver (twice at the Le Mans 24 Hours), and a champion of biofuels in endurance racing, first in GT with Aston Martin, then LM P1 prototypes with a Lola-Judd, that scored a victory in the American Le Mans Series in 2010. It is based on the B10/60. Drayson Racing Technologies, in partnership with Lola have developed the B12/69 equipped with four electric motors developing a total power of 800 hp. For the development of batteries (Lithium Nanophosphate), the former Minister Lord Drayson is working with A123 Systems, whose Nanophosphate EXT batteries offer more resistance to temperature variations and a claimed life time two to three times greater than the currently available batteries. The charging system, based on an induction system is also innovative.

Lola B12/69 EV was presented in January at the Autosport International Show in Birmingham. At the traditional hillclimb Festival Of Speed ​​Goodwood (June 29-July 1), this prototype clocked 53'' 91 seconds on the hill, which puts it in the eleventh position overall, and the fastest electric vehicle. Lord Drayson's objective is to make his prototype electric car racing the world's fastest. Lola B12/69 EV is currently not intended for competition, but Lord Drayson is already positioned in the context of Formula E, the future FIA Clean Energy formula, and who knows, maybe will there be one day be one in the 56th pit at Le Mans 24 Hours, dedicated to innovative technologies ...
