TUSC - Presentation of the 6 Hours of Watkins Glen

"The Glen" as it is affectionately called overseas, is a pillar of American motorsports like Indianapolis or of Daytona. Since the creation of the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship, born out of the merger between the American Le Mans Series and the Grand Am Series, the New York state circuit is once again on the American endurance program.

A TUSC race, but also in the North American Endurance Cup, a mini-championship that groups the four long races on the calendar (Daytona, Sebring, Watkins Glen and Petit Le Mans), the 6 Hours of Watkins Glen marks the championship's return after the break for the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

With 36 competitors on the entry list, the four classes will be evenly represented with 17 prototypes and 19 GTs. In the Prototype class, Michael Shank Racing's Ligier will attempt a first win this season after its two podium finishes at the last two rounds and the third step on the podium in the LM P2 class achieved by the Ligier for the G-Drive Racing outfit at the 24 Hours of Le Mans on June 14th.

In LM GTE Pro, Corvette Racing will arrive basking in the glow of its fantastic win over adversity at Le Mans since the American outfit was only able to count on one car at the start after Jan Magnussen, the victim of a technical problem, had an incident during the free practice. As the damage was significant, the Danish driver and his teammate Antonio Garcia, victorious at the Rolex 24 at Daytona and the 12 Hours of Sebring, will take the start with the chassis utilized by the Larbre Compétition team at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Corvette Racing will find in its way two of the three overall winners at the 24 Hours of Le Mans since Nick Tandy and Earl Bamber will get back in a Porsche 911. In GTD, the Dodge Viper, forced to retire at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, is hoping to forget the disappointment of Le Mans.

The start of the 6 Hours of Watkins Glen will be given Sunday at 10:10 a.m., or 3:10 p.m. in the U.K.
