Toyota have released a first glimpse of the Hybrid-R concept that will be on display next month at the Frankfurt Motor Show (10th to 22nd od September). It shares technology from the TS030 Hybrid prototype, at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Since its inception in 1923, the 24 Hours of Le Mans has served as a testing ground and laboratory for new technologies. After proving the kinetic energy recovery system (KERS) with a second place in the Sarthe, Toyota will use this knowledge for the benefit of a production model. According to the first official release, the Hybrdid-R concept will have a combined capacity of over 400 horsepower thanks to a hybrid system combining a powerful small displacement petrol engine and electric motors. In the endurance prototype, the electricity is stored in "supercapacitors" a kind of "ultra-fast" battery.
The car will have its world premiere at the Frankfurt Motor Show on the 10th of September at 12:45pm..
