Today's Photo Story - The Aston Martin DB3S at the 1954 24 Hours of Le Mans

On December 26, 1831 took place the first presentation of the opera "La Norma" by Vincenzo Bellini at the Scala in Milan. On June 12, 1954, four Aston Martin DB3S Bellinis were at the start of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Indeed, it was the #5 Aston Martin DB3S chassis nicknamed Bellini which was sold this year by the Bonhams auction house. It was the personal car of David Brown, former owner of the British marque, before it was turned into a racing car. The auto appeared under the name Bellini in 1960 in the film "School for Scoundrels" which was successful across the Channel, but the car never competed at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
