Today's Photo Story - Emanuele Pirro wins the 2000 24 Hours of Le Mans

On January 12, 1962 Emanuele Pirro was born. On June 18, 2000, the Italian driver won at the 24 Hours of Le Mans for the first time with Audi along with Frank Biela and future nine-time Le Mans winner Tom Kristensen.

Four additional victories would follow for Emanuele Pirro - celebrating his 55th birthday today - all with Audi. The Italian driver won three times in a row with the same teammates between 2000 and 2002 at the wheel of the Audi R8, then twice back-to-back in 2006 and 2007 with the R10 (he is one of the first three to have won with diesel technology at Le Mans), with Frank Biela again, and Marco Werner.
