Sepang and the Asian Le Mans Series have a special relationship. The international circuit has hosted a round of the championship every season since 2020. The Asian Le Mans Sprint Cup has also been run at Sepang. An earlier end to the season allows teams to combine a championship entry with other campaigns in Asia, Europe or the USA.
Invitations to the 2024 Le Mans 24 Hours
A record 48-car grid and a growing audience are encouraging signs that the Asian Le Mans Series is popular with teams, drivers, and fans. The organisers had always intended to extend the competition to five rounds.
A triumph in this series is synonymous with an invitation to the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Both LMP2 and GT winners are offered a place on the coveted grid.
This season is the first of the joint venture between the Automobile Club de l’Ouest, Asian Le Mans Endurance Management (ALMEM) and SRO Motorsports Group, formed to take the series to a new level.
Entry applications for the 2023/4 season open today.
Pierre Fillon, President of the Automobile Club de l'Ouest: Over the years, the Asian Le Mans Series has carved itself a special place in the endurance world. This year we are particularly pleased to add two races at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia. The return to South-East Asia is excellent news for this increasingly popular championship. See you on the 1 December for the start of an exciting new season.
Frédéric Lequien, CEO of ALMEM and LMEM: The Asian Le Mans Series has gone from strength to strength over the past few seasons and we are very excited about bringing the Series back to South East Asia. We are also very much looking forward to the start of our collaboration with SRO. We strongly believe that together we offer the perfect mix for the growth of the Series in Asia.
Stéphane Ratel, founder and CEO of SRO Motorsports Group: Eighteen months after the initial announcement, we are delighted to open this new chapter in our already long-established relationship with the ACO. After two years of interruptions, Benjamin Franassovici and the SRO Motorsports Group Asia launched the Fanatec GT World Challenge Asia Powered by AWS in 2022 and continue to promote the Asian Le Mans Series. I am convinced that this collaboration will lead to more important developments in the seasons to come as Asian motorsport continues to gain popularity and gather momentum.
