Nobody needs reminding how much rain has fallen in Le Mans over the last two weeks. A record-breaking amount!
Spectators saw what a bearing the weather had on the start of the race but when they returned to their cars, they found it affected them more personally too. The carparks were so muddy that many cars were unable to leave without assistance.
Fortunately, with help from neighbouring authorities that provided extra parking and assistance with pulling out cars the Automobile Club de l’Ouest was able to remedy the situation. The rescue mission accomplished, spectators were able to return home safely after a wonderful day at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
