After 40 years of absence from endurance racing, the Abarth brand will unveil a prototype that will be available in two versions: race and road.

Contrary to popular belief, Abarth  is not Italian, but Austrian. It was after the Second World War that its founder settled in Vienna near the Turin factories of Fiat and Lancia. Karl Abarth, who had changed his name to Carlos, had by then gained fame by marketing sporty sounding exhausts (video biography).

Before being taken over by Fiat to become their sports name in 1971, Abarth had several appearances at the 24 Hours of Le Mans  in the 60s. It is this heritage that is about to be reborn with Abarth SS Milan.

It was in Monaco a privileged few were able to see the outline of the new prototype. Rather stripped down, weighs in at nearly a metric ton propelled by 600 hp ... Could it rival the future update of the Bugatti Veyron? Production will be 14, 7 reserved to the track, the supercar is estimated at €300 000. It should be launced officially at the beginning of next year, but no date is given for availability as yet.
