When the calendar for the 2018-2019 Super Season of the FIA WEC was released, the 1,500-mile Sebring race was scheduled after the 12 Hours of Sebring, with a start set for midnight, but now it will precede the 12-hour race and take place on Friday, March 15th with an afternoon start and nighttime finish. The 1,000 Miles of Sebring shall not exceed eight hours, so the checkered flag will be waved when the lead car reaches the cap of 1,000 miles or eight hours.
The competitors in the championship will use a pit lane adjacent to Ulmann Strait and therefore not the same as their counterparts in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship which includes the 12 Hours of Sebring.
The track at Sebring is extremely challenging so an official free practice is planned ahead of race weekend.
