This weekend, in the United States, Sebastien Bourdais began a new season of single-seater racing in Indycar, ten years after its début overseas in the former 'Champ Car' series..

The Le Mans born French driver began his American career in 2003, when he joined the team founded by actor/driver Paul Newman, who finished second in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1979 ... Sebastien Bourdais, was born on the 28th of February of the same year, was aged just three and a half months. Twenty-five years later, he ruled the Champ Car with four consecutive titles from 2004 to 2007.

Having been one of the pillars of the Peugeot endurance programme from 2007 to 2011 (including pole position in the 24 hours in 2010) and Toro Rosso driver in Formula 1 in 2008 and 2009, the man from Le Mans racedin the United States States in 2012, joining the ranks of Indycar. He experienced a difficult year, marked by a change in engine supplier during the season, but he returns in 2013 with the Dragon Racing team. Also on the Indycar grid is his compatriot and former team mate Simon Pagenaud. With Peugeot, they had raced together in two editions of the 24 Hours of Le Mans and finished second in 2011, with the Portuguese driver Pedro Lamy, only thirteen seconds behind the Audi of Marcel Fässler, André Lotterer and Benoit Treluyer. In 2012, his first season, Simon Pagenaud finished fifth overall, earning the title of "Rookie Of The Year". Sébastien Bourdais, who had raced only on the road course rounds, had meanwhile finished 25th, with the best result a fourth place on the road course at Mid-Ohio.

Sebastien Bourdais has ten participations in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. In addition to his pole position in 2010, he finished second in 2007, 2009 and 2011.
