World Champions in Formula 1 (Jim Clark, Jackie Stewart) and Rally (Colin McRae, deceased), winners of the Indianapolis 500 (Jim Clark again, Dario Franchitti) and at the 24 Hours of Le Mans (Allan McNish)...Scotland has produced an endless supply of great drivers. An LM P2 class winner with Starworks Motorsports' Honda HPD, along with Tom Kimber-Smith and Enzo Potolicchio, Ryan Dalziel - a native of Glasgow - ,has contributed in his own way to enriching the already considerable record of his country.
Ryan Dalziel: "When I was a kid it was after Jim Clark era so my racing hero was Ayrton Senna, but obviously I admire Jim and Sir Jackie Stewart. My Scottish heroes when I grew up were Dario Franchitti and Allan McNish, and I started when both of them were making it at the top. Allan, Dario, Colin McRae and myself grew up in a very small part of Scotland, we started to drive on the same roads with street cars. One thing Scottish drivers have talent and what's missing is money and I was lucky to be helped by guys like Dario and Allan. Allan is a good friend of mine who helped me a lot through my career. It was an honour to have him as a team mate in the Rolex 24 a few years ago and he is still supporting me today with some advice here and there."
