Porsche Carrera Cup - Victory for Dan Cammish at Le Mans

The second round of the 2017 season of the Porsche Carrera Cup France was hotly disputed. The race was temporarily renamed Porsche Carrera Cup Le Mans in honour of its prestigious venue.

The best drivers of the Porsche Carrera Cup France, Australia, Asia, Scandinavia, Great Britain and Japan, as well as the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Benelux and Brazil were at the wheel.

Florian Latorre (#10, Martinet by Almeras) topped the time sheets in qualifying, ahead of Dino Zamparelli (#908) and Dan Cammish (#901). The race started with an accident, which appeared to have been sparked by contact between Antoine Jung (#85) and Egidio Perfetti (#888). The incident sent six cars back to the pits definitively: Greg Caton (#976), Egidio Perfetti (#888), Antoine Jung (#85), Tio Ellinas (#999), Lewis Plato (#977) and Xavier Maassen (#28). A 12-minute safety car period ensued.

At the green flag, Dino Zamparelli (#908) took the lead over Alessio Rovera (#21) and Philipp Morin (#86). Polesitter Latorre suffered a puncture, which dashed his hopes of victory. The large field caused many race incidents. There were several yellow flags and even a slow zone period 15 minutes before the finish.

Alessio Rovera (#21), Ayhancan Güven (#53), Dino Zamparelli (#908) and Cammish found themselves wrangling for the win.

After much jostling for position, Cammish came out on top, with Zamparelli in second and Rovera third.
