2011 - Dempsey's second visit to Le Mans, this time as a guest of Mazda. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the only win for a Japanese manufacturer at the 24 Hours, he drove the Mazda 787 B prototype that won in 1991. He announced his return as a competitor for the 2012 season.

2013 - It was finally in 2013 that Dempsey returned to the 24 Hours. The driver-actor and his regular teammate Joe Foster were supported by Patrick Long, official Porsche driver. The No. 77 911 finished fourth in the LM GTE Am class (28th overall). The participation was the focus of a four-part documentary shown on the Discovery Channel.

2014 - The trio Dempsey-Foster-Long finished fifth in the LM GTE Am class (24th overall), in partnership with the Proton Competition team, an expert in the preparation of Porsche 911s.

2015 - With Dempsey-Proton Racing, the driver-actor participated in the World Endurance Championship in its entirety. The two Patricks (Dempsey and Long) welcomed a new teammate in Marco Seefried. After the second place finish in LM GTE Am at the 24 Hours of Le Mans (21st overall), Dempsey won in his class at the 6 Hours of Fuji on October 11th. At the end of April, the last episode of the 11th season of "Grey's Anatomy" marked his final appearance on the series.

Seventh and next-to-last round of the World Endurance Championship, the 6 Hours of Shanghai, will take place Sunday, November 1st.

Tickets to the 2016 24 Hours of Le Mans will be available for purchase on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 (for ACO members) and Friday, November 6, 2015 (for the general public).
