The 2021 24 Hours of Le Mans marks a milestone in the MissionH24 project. Less than 3 years since the launch at Spa-Francorchamps, the programme headed by the Automobile Club de l’Ouest and GreenGT boasts two hydrogen-electric prototypes. In the run up to the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the LMPH2G and the new H24 will be showing off their progress in daily sessions from Wednesday to Saturday this week.

Fans will remember the LMPH2G from its laps of honour on the full 13.6-kilometre Circuit des 24 Heures du Mans in 2019 and 2020. However, spectators at Le Mans this week will have the privilege of witnessing the H24’s first public outing since development began in March. The new prototype takes MissionH24 to another level. While the LMPH2G is a laboratory car, for testing technology, parts and systems; the H24 is a prototype, designed for performance. With new aerodynamics, new mechanical parts and an improved powertrain, the H24 is the manifestation of the progress made towards the introduction of a category for hydrogen-electric racing cars at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Lighter, quicker and more powerful than ever, this prototype has already surpassed expectations and is set to continue breaking new ground.

Demonstrations are scheduled at 10:00-10:20 on Wednesday, 10:00-10:35 on Thursday and 14:00-15:00 on Friday with the lap of honour at 15:42 on Saturday before the start of the 24 Hours of Le Mans at 16:00. At the wheel for the demonstration sessions: Stéphane Richelmi, Norman Nato and Stoffel Vandoorne – all entered for the race in the LMP2 class. During Friday’s session, Stéphane Richelmi will be driving the LMPH2G with special guests from the motor racing world as passengers.

The H24Racing team quarters are at the Maison Blanche circuit where both prototypes are on display along with the mobile filling station specially designed by TotalEnergies for the MissionH24 programme.
