The first round of the International Le Mans Cup is also the final round of this years Michelin Green X Challenge.
The winner will be guaranteed a place on the grid for next year's Le Mans 24 Hour Race. If a prototype wins then the leading GT car will also receive an entry
This is the second year of the Challenge and regulations remain unchanged from 2009. Th e standings are based on an Energy Efficiency Index (EEI) which is calculated as a function of each car's fuel consumption and average speed during the race. To ensure a fair contest between the different diesel and petrol engined cars, fuel quantities are converted from litres to joules.
It didn't take the teams long to be won over by the principle of the Challenge and many of them have taken specific measures to attempt to win the coveted trophy. With a 3rd place at Le Castellet a 2nd at Spa and then a win in Hungary the #24 Pescarolo has a 12 point lead. In GT #76 Porsche has a 17 pt advantage over #95 Ferrari.
