The Ligier European Series event is the first of the support races to run alongside the 24 Hours of Le Mans Centenary and the first ever to take place on Test Day. A free practice session was followed by qualifying, and the race will be held early this afternoon. The competition is designed for amateur drivers looking for enjoyment on the track. They can choose between two Ligier models – the small JS P4 prototype, and the JS2 R GT racer.
After 45 minutes of free practice, the 25 competitors convened again half an hour later for qualifying. This was a 20-minute session permitting just four timed laps after the out lap. Dimitri Enjalbert was the first to move out front. However, he was knocked off provisional pole in the second lap by James Winslow. In turn, Winslow was outpaced during the third lap by Bernardo Pinheiro (4:07.888). The Brit snatched back the lead on his final attempt (4:07.658), to finish ahead of George King, Dimitri Enjalbert and Steve Acchia.
In the JS2 R class, Maximus Mayer placed the RLR MSport car at the top of the standings.
Stay tuned for the race, which starts at 2pm this Sunday afternoon!
