The Sebring International Raceway located in Florida is one of the oldest tracks in the U.S. The 6.02 km circuit is situated at a former military airport used by the United States Air Force until the end of WWII. It still uses the airstrips made of concrete slabs, making it a very bumpy, very challenging track for all drivers.

Currently in the top LMP championship spot, Team Redline will lead the charge among the 21 prototypes entered in the race. For this round, Felix Rosenqvist and Bono Huis will be joined by Atze Kerkhof in the #123 ORECA 07. Only 3.5 points separate them from the #4 ORECA 07 fielded by Floyd ByKOLLES-Burst. One of the professional drivers newly joining the championship for this race is Agustin Canapino. He is slated to replace Louis Delétraz at the wheel of Rebellion GPX Esports' #1 ORECA 07. All participants are aiming for a good result to solidify their positions going into the 24 Hours of Le Mans Virtual, final round of the season on 15-16 January.

Of the five constructors in the GTE class (Ferrari, Porsche, BMW, Corvette and Aston Martin), the TESLA R8G Esports team's #888 BMW M8 GTE won the 8 Hours of Nürburgring. The battle for the title is tight in this class as well as Team Redline (#71 BMW M8 GTE) only has a 4.5 point lead on Porsche Esports Team's #91 Porsche 911 RSR GTE.

After a frustrating 8 Hours of Nürburgring due to technical problems that forced the organizers to cut the race short, extensive tests have been conducted and the server malfunction has been identified and resolved.
