Le Mans artist Michel Z Lecomte dies at 75

Michel Zacharie Lecomte died suddenly on the 11th of September, in his 76th year.

Born in Sotteville-les-Rouen in 1935, while he studied Fine Art he regularly attended the 'circuit des Essarts'. His first exhibition was in Rouen in 1969, followed by many others around the world, from Tokyo to Brasil including Milan and Nairobi.

In recent years he had devoted most of his work to the 24 Hours of Le Mans. He exhibited at the Museum and on the track during the week of 24 hours, obtaining the status of official painter.

A warm man, a free spirit and multi-talented painter, Michel Lecomte excelled in all areas, with an impeccable technique in the service of his passion and vision as an artist. A book, published by ETAI in 2006, recounts his 40 year career and the magazine Le Mans Racing had recently paid tribute to his work.

He leaves his wife Annick and his three sons, to whom lemans.org sends heartfelt condolences.
