The Automobile Club de l'Ouest is turning to alternative technologies. Hybrid engines today, tomorrow may be the electric revolution ...

A handful of pioneers believe firmly in running a 100% electric prototype at the 24 Hours of Le Mans: "There are two paths in our project," says Jean-François Weber, a founder of GreenGT. "The first is to race one-design series, that and is about to materialize. The second, (and we have no time limit) is to make a car for the 24 Hours of Le Mans. "

The new Green GT 300 kW is already showing some impressive features. But to be credible in endurance, range must be at least sixty minutes. "Today, with a Le Mans chassis, we could be as good an LM P2 grid position," said Christopher Schwartz, one of four partners. "But we do not want a coup, we are in for the duration". Last July at Le Mans Classic, the Citroen Survolt powered by GreenGT took the the full 24 Hours circuit in the hands of Vanina Ickx.

"The prototype GreenGT 300 kW has a power increase of 50% over the GreenGT Sprint", said Weber. "The batteries are also improved in terms of storage and energy delivery. They are now cooled by a non-conductive liquid, housed in flameproof casing of composite aerospace technology and equipped with a sprinkler system. The GreenGT 300 kilowatts is a new technological leap in the history of motorsport."

But then, how can we accelerate the integration of electric cars in competition? For Jean-François Weber there is only one solution: "Today we are confident to feel good. Things will change when we reach a level above conventional engines. Because ultimately the race is what? Be the first! Second place is no good. So our goal is to reach that level! "

The 300kW will soon make his first test with the assistance of the team JMB Racing, who compete regularly in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
