Finally the historic Stratos has an official decendant. Originally commissioned by a wealthy entrepreneur, the concept interested Lancia, who were in search of a new identity.
Like the new Ferrari P4/5, the New Stratos is designed by Pininfarina and based on a chassis of Ferrari F430 Scuderia. From both front or the side, its design and its proportions are true to the original model. The designers were not restricted just to style, the car has undergone development in the wind tunnel and Fiat test track at Balocco.
The question remains: will this child of the original Stratos follow in the footsteps of its illustrious forbear in competition? If the new Lancia Stratos were sold, it would be mainly for the approval of its rally version. In this discipline, it has a formidable track record to live up to; world champion from 1974 to 1976, and less known appearances on the circuit, including participations in the 24 Hours of Le Mans twice. Painted in pink and given to a female crew (Lombardi-Dacremont) who finished 20th in 1976.
