Though four days of tests have been scheduled by the IMSA, only the last two sessions will be reserved for players in the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship to prepare for the 64th edition of the 12 Hours of Sebring, second race on the championship's calendar.
Simon Hodgson, Manager Director of Racing Operations: "We did not offer a sanctioned test at Sebring in 2015, but a number of our teams conducted private tests at the facility. At the request of many competitors across our series, we have elected to offer sanctioned testing at Sebring once again in 2016."
It's true the Sebring track is very demanding from the mechanics' point of view, many teams putting their material to the test on this former air base before the 24 Hours of Le Mans. There's a saying that if a car can last the 12 Hours of Sebring, it can take on the 24 Hours, a much less forgiving track.
The details of this session will be released later to competitors who will kick off the 2016 endurance season at Daytona during the official tests January 8th through the 10th, the race scheduled for January 30-31, 2016.
