This France GT Champion title is the second in the team's history, much to the delight of Franck Rava, Imsa Performance Matmut team manager. "The beginning of the season was complicated due to the new regulations put in place this year. Meanwhile, since the Spa-Francorchamps round, our season has been very good. The drivers (Oliver Pernaut, Sébastien Dumez et Raymond Narac, editor's note) have been quite consistent and that has made the difference relative to the competition. We are obviously ecstatic about the second title, the second consecutive."
Things move on and the outfit is already looking to 2016 and studying all the tracks. "The IMSA Performance Matmut team enjoys a challenge. We look at all the different opportunities that come up whether it be defending our title in the France GT Championship, the European Le Mans Series and the World Endurance Championship. It will all depend on who is interested, drivers ready to invest themselves as well as potential sponsors. We have a lot of experience in various championships and a great deal of know-how. We're interested in everything, now we just need to find people who want to be involved. Once the program is determined, as it usually does the team will be in it 100%. If we return to the ELMS or the World Endurance Championship, it will be with great pleasure."
The new Endurance GT3 series, the Michelin GT3 Le Mans Cup created by the Automobile Club de l’Ouest, resonates with Franck Rava. "We are looking at the new championship that the Automobile Club de l’Ouest has set up. We are waiting on additional information but we might be interested. It would be in line with the FFSA GT Championship of France. It's longer, and that's interesting. The new LM P3 class put in place this year is attractive, we are looking at it closely as well as the LM P2."
Of course, motorsports fan that he is, Franck Rava would like to return to the 24 Hours of Le Mans where the team has already participated 10 times uninterrupted between 2005 to 2014, always with Porsches. The team's two feats to-date are wins: in GT2 in 2007 (with Raymond Narac, Richard Lietz and Patrick Long) and in LMGTE Am in 2013 (with Raymond Narac, Christophe Bourret and Jean-Karl Vernay). "The 24 Hours of Le Mans, it's always the dream. For me, it's the top endurance race in the world. I would really like to participate in it again. That race, once you've had a taste of it, you always want more!"
Tickets to the 2016 24 Hours of Le Mans (June 18-19) will be available for purchase on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 (for ACO members) and Friday, November 6, 2015 (for the general public).
