Improvement works around the Le Mans 24 Hours circuit in 2016

As is the case before each Le Mans 24 Hours major improvements have been made to the circuit both in terms of revamps and safety modifications. Concerning the 84th Le Mans 24 Hours the main innovation is the construction of four new pits.
Circuit improvements – length unchanged (13,629 km)

Safety
- Security of the run-off areas on the Le Mans 24-Hours circuit (in addition to the tyre walls) at La Chapelle, Tertre Rouge, Indianapolis, Karting CIK.
- Security of the run-off area in the first Porsche corner using the SAFER Barrier system (track interior).
- Installation of a gravel trap on the exit from the Porsche corners (track exterior).
- The cost of all the works in the Porsche corners comes to 900 000 euros financed by the Syndicat Mixte des 24 Heures du Mans.

Upgrades
- Construction of four new pits in the extension of the current pit building. These works come to 900 000 euros covered by the ACO.
- Revamp of the Arnage welcome area
- New spectator zone at Indianapolis
- Optical fibre in all pits
- Extension of the marketing zones in the village using the former museum
- Securisation of the electrical supply to the Le Mans 24-Hours circuit
- Installation of a veranda in the golf course club house
- Installation of a roundabout near the Arnage corner (original layout unchanged). Its aim is to improve road safety in that zone.
