Hugues de Chaunac, ORECA boss has set a clear goal in his team; win. He relies on his past experience of racing in the U.S. do well on Saturday at the 12 Hours of Sebring.
"Sebring is a very special race because it is the same number of cars on the track as Le Mans, but on a circuit shorter by half. To win, we should not necessarily be the most efficient: we must be the cleverest in traffic. Drivers must not commit any mistakes. The keys to success are clear: we must be very patient, conservative and not unnecessarily have to stop in the pits. Our ambition is to reach the podium, the top step would be ideal and we have the experience of victories on American soil.
Here, the race is primarily a show, with frequent safety car. In Europe, we need a serious incident for the yellow flag to be displayed while in the United States, at the slightest warning, the race was neutralized. We know the strategy to adopt because we did two full seasons in 2000 and 2001 in the U.S. (with a Viper, ed.) We will adapt. "
