Each LM P2 class driving squad is composed of at least one amateur driver, including the out of the norm young man who will be attempting to bring home the championship for his team in the final round of the 2013 FIA World Endurance Championship this weekend in Bahrain.
A quick Google search and you'll find him : David Heinemeier Hansson is more known for his computer keystrokes than his driving accomplishments. Far from the "Gentleman Driver" stereotypes, he doesn't owe his fortune to good stock market plays or personal family wealth, but instead an infallible passion for Internet technology. He's so talented at what he does, Google chose him as 2005 Hacker of the Year! Since then, his goal has been to "reinvent work" which he details in a book he wrote in 2010. His advice? Get away from meetings and refuse to have your time "stolen" in order to focus better on your work.
Speaking of time, the Danish youngster only needed four years to build the reputation needed in the world of auto racing. After a slow start in 2009, he entered the American Le Mans Series full time in 2011, won two races in the LM P2 and finished the season in the runner up spot. These good results offered him the chance to join the official Morgan team (OAK Racing) in the FIA World Endurance Championship. Second in this year's Le Mans 24 Hours, he will be racing for the championship title this weekend in Bahrain with teammates Brundle and Pla.
