TOYOTA GAZOO Racing scored a decisive one-two at this weekend's 8 Hours of Bahrain. The #7 Toyota GR010 Hybrid of Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi and José María López finished ahead of the #8. The sister car's drivers – Sébastien Buemi, Brendon Hartley and Ryo Hirakawa – earned this year's FIA Endurance Hypercar Drivers crown and Toyota has won a fourth WEC title in a row. Hartley and Buemi now boast three trophies and the Australian driver is now the first to win the championship with two different marques (Porsche and Toyota).
Alessandro Pier Guidi, James Calado and the AF Corse team have won the FIA Endurance GT Drivers and Manufacturers crowns. The duo proceeded to the chequered flag with care after its Ferrari 488 GTE Evo developed gearbox troubles in the seventh hour. Antonio Fuoco and Miguel Molina in the #52 Ferrari won their class for the first time in 2022 for the final race of the LMGTE Pro class, finishing ahead of the #64 Chevrolet Corvette C8.R shared by Nick Tandy and Tommy Milner. The #92 Porsche 911 RSR-19 of Kévin Estre and Michael Christensen rounded out the podium.
In LMP2, the #31 ORECA 07-Gibson of Team WRT driven by Sean Gelael, Robin Frijns and René Rast won its second consecutive victory and JOTA's #38 ORECA shared by António Félix da Costa, Roberto González and Will Stevens nabbed the title.
Ben Keating and Marco Sørensen closed their season with the FIA Endurance GTE Am Drivers trophy along with teammate Henrique Chaves. The trio in the #33 Aston Martin Vantage AMR finished fourth in the LMGTE Am class at today's season finale, enough to beat out NorthWest AMR's #98 Aston Martin.
Matteo Cairoli, Niki Leutwiler and Mikkel Pedersen clinched their only win of the season at the wheel of Team Project 1's #46 Porsche. The German team even pulled off a one-two thanks to the #56's second place finish ahead of the Iron Dames team's #85 Ferrari.
