FIA WEC – Porsche Penske Motorsport closes out the Prologue on top

After dominating all four sessions, Porsche Penske Motorsport's #5 Porsche 963 clocked the fastest time at the final outing of the 2024 FIA World Endurance Championship Prologue in Qatar.

A Porsche 963 topped the timesheet at all four sessions of this year's Prologue. Porsche Penske Motorsport's #5 entrusted to Matt Campbell/Michael Christensen/Frédéric Makowiecki earned the quickest time of 1:40.404, with the #2 Cadillac V-Series.R trailing by only 0.054 seconds. AF Corse's private #51 Ferrari 499P Hypercar driven by Robert Kubica/Robert Schwartzman/Yifei Ye rounded out the top 3 with a time of 1:40.479. The entire top 8 finished within the same second of the fourth session. TOYOTA GAZOO Racing's #7 and #8 Toyota GR010 Hybrids seemed off their game during the second day of the Prologue, but did manage to cover more than 300 laps.

In LMGT3, D’Station Racing's #777 Aston Martin Vantage AMR LMGT3 driven by the rookie Erwan Bastard clocked the best time of 1:54.778. The French driver outmatched Vista AF Corse's #54 Ferrari 296 LMGT3 (1:55.060) and Akkodis ASP Team's #78 Lexus RC F LMGT3.

The overall fastest time of the 2024 Prologue was secured by United Autosports' #59 McLaren 720S LMGT3 Evo during the second session, with five different marques in the top 5 across the two days of track time.

Competitors will return to the track this Thursday at 12:20 local time for the Qatar 1812 km. The start of the race will be given on Saturday 2 March at 11:00 local time (8:00 GMT).
