Signatech Alpine Matmut is currently in the lead for the FIA Endurance LMP2 Teams Trophy ahead of the Super Final of the FIA WEC, the 24 Hours of Le Mans on 15-16 June. The French team has confirmed its participation in the LMP2 class next season.
Created in 2013 in partnership with Signatech, Alpine's involvement in endurance racing in the LMP2 class has included two consecutive wins in the European Le Mans Series (in 2013 and 2014), a title in the FIA WEC (in 2016) and two victories at the 24 Hours in 2016 and 2018 (the 40th anniversary of Alpine A442B's win at Le Mans).
The #36 Alpine A470-Gibson shared by Nicolas Lapierre, André Negrão and Pierre Thiriet boasts seven podium finishes in a row in the FIA WEC. Third at the Total 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps on 4 May, the car took the lead in the running for the FIA Endurance LMP2 Teams Trophy, but has a buffer of only four points on Jackie Chan DC Racing.
