Already present in the LM P1 and LM P2 the chassis builder soon intensified its involvement in ILMC alongside Toyota. An announcement made exclusively to lemans.org by Martin Birrane, owner of Lola Cars.

Martin Birrane is loyal to the 24 Hours of Le Mans. After success as a driver in the GT class (1985), he bought Lola Cars in 1998 to produce chassis that meet the LM P regulations. This year, four prototypes from the workshops of the British firm will compete in the greatest endurance race in the world. But Martin Birrane is already looking towards 2012 ...

What will your next areas of development?

Martin Birrane: "Maintaining our efforts around emerging technologies. For 2012 and 2013, we have significant opportunities that should give our car a performance advantage. "

One of your clients LM P1 (Rebellion) is associated with a major manufacturer (Toyota). What is the role of Lola in the successful alliance?  "Lola's customers have full access to all our services and facilities, including our  F1 technology centre."

The association Lola-Toyota could it be stronger in the future?
"We are pleased to announce that Toyota will make additional LMP1 engines available exclusively to Lola for 2012.  This increase will enable 4 cars to be run in the 2012 ILMC in addition to either the ALMS or LMS series.  No other plans are confirmed at this stage but of course Lola has a good track record in working very closely with major manufacturers in the past such as Nissan in 1989/90, GM (Corvette) in the 80's and MG in the early part of the last decade."
