In July, the Automobile Club de l'Ouest launched a new class, LM P3, earmarked for young drivers and gentlemen-drivers. Bradley Smith, who has competed in several seasons of the Radical series, fits the bill perfectly as he was chosen by the British Racing Drivers Club (BRDC) for its program reserved for young newcomers.
The British driver will be at the wheel of the Ginetta Juno-Nissan acquired by the Greaves Motorsport outfit. It is no surprise to find the British outfit involved in LM P3 as for several years now it has given opportunities to young LM P2 drivers. In the LM P hierarchy, the LM P3 class will be the first level before LM P2 (admitted in all series as at the 24 Hours of Le Mans) then the LM P1 class (solely allowed in the FIA World Endurance Championship and the 24 Hours of Le Mans).
Already in 2011, when Greaves Motorsport scored the victory in the LM P2 class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, it had trusted the young French driver Olivier Lombard, then 20 years old, as back up for Karim Ojjeh and Tom Kimber-Smith.
Smith will first appear on March 23rd and 24th at the Castellet circuit for the two days of official European Le Mans Series tests.
