The Iron Dames made a significant impact on the 2023 FIA WEC season. Sarah Bovy, Michelle Gatting and Rahel Frey picked up three pole positions and a win in the 8 Hours of Bahrain with their Porsche 911 RSR-19, which resulted in the runners-up position in the chase for the FIA Endurance Trophy for LMGTE Am Teams and Drivers. This term, Bovy and Gatting will be partnered by Doriane Pin in a Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2, sporting the number 83, in the outstanding new LMGT3 class that will feature the likes of the Aston Martin Vantage GT3, BMW M4 GT3, Corvette Z06 GT3.R, Ferrari 296 GT3, Ford Mustang GT3, Lexus RC F GT3, McLaren 720S GT3 Evo and Porsche 911 GT3 R.
In 2023, Pin drove the Prema Racing Oreca 07-Gibson in the FIA WEC LMP2 class, starting the campaign with a third place in the 1000 Miles of Sebring. She also raced in her first 24 Hours of Le Mans. She is, however, no stranger to the Iron Dames project, having competed in various series for the team since 2021.
Last weekend, all four Iron Dames – Gatting, Bovy, Pin and Frey – finished sixth in the GTD class at the Rolex 24 at Daytona with the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2.
Spurred on by much more than just the desire to win, these women are preparing to play a leading role in the LMGT3 category. They fully intend to add further successes to their Bahrain triumph. They are passionate and determined to show what the team’s slogan “Women Driven By Dreams” really means.
