Doriane Pin forced to withdraw from 92nd 24 Hours of Le Mans

Iron Dames driver Doriane Pin was due to take the wheel of the #85 Lamborghini Huracán entered by the Italian team in the new LMGT3 category at this year's 24 Hours (12-16 June), but in an unfortunate turn of events, she will not take part in the race at all.

Doriane Pin announced on social media that she has withdrawn from what was to be her second participation in the 24 Hours. She was set to share Iron Dames' #85 Lamborghini Huracán LMGT3 Evo with Sarah Bovy and Michelle Gatting. An incident last weekend at a round of the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine (FRECA) at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit resulted in broken ribs, rendering her ability to compete in the Le Mans classic impossible.

Doriane Pin (age 20): After further medical checks, we found out that I have fractured ribs. Obviously it means that I need time to heal, so we have made the difficult decision with the team not to race the 24 Hours of Le Mans or the FRECA races in Zandvoort. This decision is tough and sad, especially since Le Mans is one of the biggest races of the year and for me it’s a very special one. I was looking forward to driving there and share that week with all of you and of course my team. But, I need to do what is best for myself and the Iron Dames.

The Iron Dames team quickly recruited Rahel Frey to replace Pin. The Swiss driver has taken the start in the 24 Hours six times (four with Iron Dames). Her experience level and talent are sure to help the Italian outfit secure a podium finish in the LMGT3 category or even a win.

The Automobile Club de l’Ouest extends its sincerest hopes for Doriane Pin's speedy recovery.
