Since the program was announced in September, no information has filtered about the progress of the program of Aston Martin in LM P1. From the top of the main stage of Autosport International, David Richards gave an update. Excerpts follow.
"As we sit here this afternoon, the car's engine is running for the first time on the bench testing of Prodrive."
"We started from scratch to design a new racing engine specifically designed in order to win Le Mans."
"The first chassis was delivered by our composites department last week, and the car is being assembled. The body is not yet complete."
"To be very honest, it's a race against time. The goal is to test during the first week of February and then ship the car to America for further testing at Sebring. Then we would stay there to continue to develop and compete in the 12 Hours of Sebring in March."
"This is a very demanding track and if you hold for the 12 hours of Sebring on the bumps, you can consistently finish in Le Mans 24 Hours."
