Darren Turner (Aston Martin) runs for a good cause

With 12 participations at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, veteran Darren Turner, official driver for Aston Martin since the British manufacturer's debut in GT, will be at the start of a race of a different kind this weekend in London: this time it's on foot that he'll race with the goal of raising funds in the name of a charitable organization for the protection of animals.

Last year, Darren Turner traveled England by bike, accompanied by two other drivers of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Peter Dumbreck and Stuart Hall, to raise money for the maternity at Banbury, Prodrive and Aston Martin Racing headquarters.

In 2014, he trades his bicycle for running shoes to participate in the 10km of London this Sunday. As the godfather of the Born Free foundation, an organization that protects animals, the two-time class winner at Le Mans wore the foundation's logo on his HANS (neck protection system) at the 82nd edition of the 24 Hours in June.

Darren Turner, with seven class podiums at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, has already gone far since he has raised more than 80% of the amount he set out to collect. There remain 10km to travel...in a tiger costume!
