The Monster Energy Grand Prix of France, the fourth round of the 2011 season, will start on Friday morning with the first practice sessions for each category but the competition began on Thursday afternoon for eleven riders, four of them French, who attended a karting competition.

The contest consisted of two practice sessions of ten minutes, two laps in qualifying and a five lap race, held on the Alain Prost karting circuit. It was between the three categories of the World Championship with Andrea Dovizioso (Repsol Honda) and Karel Abraham (Cardion AB Motoracing) as representatives of MotoGP, Andrea Iannone (Speed Master), Simone Corsi (Ioda Racing Project), Julián Simón (Mapfre Aspar), Jules Cluzel (NGM Forward Racing), Valentin Debise (Speed Up) and Mike di Meglio (Tech3 Racing) for Moto2 and Sandro Cortese (Intact-Racing Team Germany), Efrén Vázquez (Avant-AirAsia-Ajo) et Louis Rossi (Matteoni Racing) for the 125cc category.

Respectively qualified in second and first positions, Louis Rossi and Cluzel widened the gap on their opponents in the first ap and it was finally Cluzel who won the victory, ahead of fellow Spaniard Efren Vazquez, while Simon and Di Meglio fought in a duel for fourth place, eventually won by Vice-World Champion in Moto2.
