The 22-year-old Frenchman already knows his way around an LM P3 car after competing in the European Le Mans Series with Team LNT. At the Test Day in the run-up to the Le Mans 24 Hours, he drove the Gibson 015S for Greaves Motorsport (no.41) to clock up the mandatory 10 laps.
However, yesterday it was announced that Paletou would be joining Jon Lancaster and Gary Hirsch in that same car, replacing Björn Wirdheim. The change came at the request of Nissan with whom Greaves Motorsports has long-standing links.
Gaëtan Paletou: "I really don’t know what to say…Le Mans! This was completely unexpected and I honestly thought that Darren (Cox, Nismo's boss) was playing a trick on me. I dreamed of racing at Le Mans when I was a child, but I never really expected to drive there. I love driving the LMP2 car and I really like the guys at Greaves, so this is going to be a great experience for me. It is far too soon to talk about expectations, I just want to go there and do the best job I can.”
