The celebrated French writer and jounalist Bernard Clavel died on the 5th of October 2010 at the age of 87, leaving a legacy of superb writing, including a book based on his experiences of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. In 1967, he followed the race from the heart of the Alpine team, especially the Alpine A210 # 47, driven by Jean-Claude Andruet, who raced that year in his first 24 hours with Robert Bouharde. The car retired by the 17th hour, but the following year, Bernard Clavel told this story in a book entitled "Victory at Le Mans", a lasting testimony to the race that was rediscovered in the movie "Le Mans" produced by and starring Steve McQueen.
Often described as "Race of the Century", in reference to the fabulous duel between Ford to Ferrari, the 24 Hours of Le Mans 1967 was won by the Ford MKIV AJ Foyt and Dan Gurney.
