The young American driver's great start put him at the helm of the 37-car field, and then he went on to deliver a flawless race. Even a 30-minute interruption of the action didn't slow his momentum. It only remained for teammate Paul di Resta to take the #23 ORECA 07-Gibson to victory. Nielsen Racing's #44 ORECA, which won the first two rounds of the season, finished second and Graff Racing's #39 rounded out the podium.
In LMP3, previously unlucky in Dubai with two retirements, the #2 Duqueine M30 D08 fielded by DKR Engineering and driven by Laurents Hörr, Sebastián Álvarez and Mathieu de Barbuat pulled off a long-awaited win for the Luxembourg team. Despite a 10-second penalty added to a refueling for a previous infraction during a pit stop, Rinaldi Racing's #22 Duqueine took the second spot ahead of the #27 Ligier JS P320-Nissan of CD Sport.
Defending GT champion Herberth Motorsport and its #91 Porsche 911 GT3R won the class up against the #7 McLaren 720S GT3 entered by Inception Racing, and AF Corse's #17 Ferrari 488 GT3 reached the third step on the podium despite contact made with D'Station Racing's #77 Aston Martin and incurring a penality.
