United Autosports having chosen not to participate in the full 2022 Asian le Mans Series season, Nielsen Racing's #44 ORECA 07-Gibson driven by Rodrigo Sales, Matt Bell and Ben Hanley won this year's crown.
After dominating the two Dubai rounds then finishing second at the opening Abu Dhabi race yesterday, British team Nielsen Racing had enough points to win the title before the final round and earn an automatic invitation to the 90th 24 Hours of Le Mans on 11-12 June where the same trio will compete.
Race 4 was won by the United Autosports team's #23 ORECA ahead of the #4 entered by Nielsen Racing and the #39 of Graff Racing. In LMP3, G-Drive Racing's #26 Ligier JS P320-Nissan triumphed after suffering a fire yesterday and causing the race to be interrupted. French team CD Sport won the title with its #27 Ligier JS P320-Nissan. In GT, Herberth Motorsport pulled off a one-two. The #91 Porsche 911 GT3R finished ahead of the #33. In the class, the title was clinched by Inception Racing and the #7 McLaren 720 GT3.
