Asian Le Mans Series – 37 cars to take part in 2022 season

The entry list for the 2022 Asian Le Mans Series boasts 37 cars, including 23 in GT. Nine teams are gearing up to make their debut in the championship as fans return to circuits.

With a record field of 23 cars in GT, nine rookie teams, the return of the 2021 and 2019-2020 LMP3 champions and the admission of spectators at all four races on the calendar, the 2022 Asian Le Mans Series season is looking extremely exciting.

2021 winner G-Drive Racing is moving from the LMP2 class to LMP3. Defending LMP3 champion United Autosports will compete in LMP2 with two cars entered in both races in Abu Dhabi and will give the wheel to its young, up-and-coming talent Josh Pierson. The driver will turn 16, the minimum age allowed by the Asian Le Mans Series, on 14 February, which means he will only take the start in the last two races at the Yas Marina circuit.

After winning the Asian Le Mans Series and European Le Mans Series, and barely failing to win the LMP2 class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Chinese driver Yifei Ye is returning this season promoted to factory Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific driver for 2022 and is joining forces with defending GT champion Herberth Motorsport. The team is seeking an invitation to this year's 24 Hours of Le Mans (11-12 June). Ye fera will team up with Hong Kong driver Antares Au and Austrian driver Klaus Bachler.

Two new teams have announced their participation in GT: Dinamic Motorsport with a Porsche 911 GT3R and Attempto Racing with an Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO2.

With 23 cars in the class, a new field record has been set in the Asian Le Mans Series and seven constructors will be represented: Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Aston Martin, McLaren, Porsche and Ferrari.

The championship was held behind closed doors last year due to the international health crisis, but the 2022 Asian Le Mans Series will mark the return of fans to circuits and tickets are free for the first two races!
